Hydrogen-powered Hydrocat 48 completes its first job with Vestas. Operated by Vestas, the Hydrocat 48 is the world’s first hydrogen-powered CTV.

Delivered in 2022, the Windcat-designed CTV started its maiden operations on Norther wind farm offshore Belgium from July 2022 to January 2023. It completed the annual maintenance program of the 44-8MW Vestas turbines in 223 days. Spinergie recorded a transit speed of 24 knots with a maximum connection wave height of 1.6 metres with a median of seven connections of six minutes per day.

The Windcat Mk 3.5 design catamaran has the highest environmental score among CTVs in the Spinergie database, reaching 80 out of 100, thanks to its innovative and reliable dual-fuel hydrogen technology, which allows zero-CO2 emissions today.

Windcat Workboats has ordered six additional hydrogen-powered vessels, which will facilitate the development of the Hydrogen supply chain to reach emission-free operations.
